Closing the Educational Wealth Gap

Wealthy families are able to give their kids a leg up in education by hiring private tutors for their children. These services can be extremely expensive. 

Private tutors can provide students with a significant advantage when it comes to education. 

This creates a significant disadvantage for students who come from families with less financial means. These students may not have access to the same resources and support that wealthy students do, and may have to rely on their own merit to acquire an education and to get into college. This can be especially challenging when applying to top colleges and universities, which often have very selective admissions processes.

In a perfect world, all students would have equal access to these types of resources and support. If all kids had access to private tutors it would likely level the playing field and provide more equal opportunities for education. However, until that time, it is important for families and students to be aware of these inequities and to work towards finding ways to bridge the gap and provide more equal opportunities for all students.
